Cool Blocks From Olson
When we got our new bandsaw, I was very pleased with its performance, as was Dan. We must have tried everything the poor thing could do, believe me. We put this tool through the toughest trial I could imagine and it came through with flying colors. The only exception was those little plastic guide blocks, which failed miserably. Being a skeptic of plastic parts, I called my local saw shop and talked to Curt, the owner. We talked at length about the new saw he sold us and these awful little plastic guide blocks. Curt said, "Come on down and I sell you some cool blocks." So, I got in my truck and drove right over and he handed me this little package that said "Cool Blocks."
These little wonders were made by the same company that kept me in my benchtop bandsaw for so long with their great little blades. That company is The Olson Saw Company. Now mind you, I balked at the $12.95 price tag. The other blocks weren't even a week old and were shot, but I got them anyway. We installed the little cubes and began the workout again. First, we worked with scraps, then two old hippy Adirondack suites. There was not so much as a whimper from these new cool blocks as the blade cut true and no adjustments have been required since they went in 4 weeks ago. Olson says they will pay for themselves quickly by extending the life of your blades and improving its performance.
These triple-lubricated, laminated blocks allow the blade to run cooler than metal and are completely superior to plastic. They come in many sizes, so be sure to ask your saw shop for the ones you need. Yes, I said NEED! These blocks are so cool they are our cool tool of the month.
