Siderax Update: A good opportunity for our readers
Back before the change of the millenium This Old Workshop reviewed Siderax, a car rack system for hauling things to long for your vehicle, and we loved the product so much we purchased nearly a hundred to sell on our old site or at shows. Also the occasional lumber store sale, walking up to someone struggling to load a couple 10 foot 2x4s into their Ford Escort. Well Siderax has been sold off and we still have a couple dozen left in our shop. We would like to offer these to our readers at a reduced price of only $15 and $8 shipping and handeling. (down from $24) We can take payment through our paypal account. If you would like some of these sets just email our This email address is being protected from spambots. Original Review: (Links have been removed)
Back in 1982, I had purchased a brand new car and to this day I have one regret. It wasn't the color and it wasn't the motor. Instead, it was those 2x4s I stuck in the back window and out the passenger side.
As woodworkers, we are always doing some project around the house. That fateful day in '82, I was framing in a window-style air conditioner. I'll never forget the horror of seeing the damage to the door panel, the inside rear window deck, and yes, to my $200 widow tint! All of this just to get four 2x4s home! Four dollars worth of wood ended in $400 in damage to the car. This is one reason I own a truck today! Now, I realize a lot of us do not have the luxury of owning two vehicles, and if your house is filled to the brim with little future woodworkers, a family car is the norm. With this in mind, the people at SideRax bring us this truly cool tool.
SideRax are simple to set up on any vehicle and are a safe option toget that stack of wood home. In addition to wood, we loaded ours with fishing poles, pvc pipe, a tent and a ladder. It easily fit on my mini-truck, my fullsized pickup, and Dan's wife's car. We put them on the neighbor's car, but he wanted to keep them, so off we ran! They also fit on my sister's minivan and all with great simplicity. Everyone who see them wants a pair or two, so we asked how much. We were very pleased with the asking price; only $24.99US plus S&H. One thing remains constant with this tool; everyone says,"Wow, why didn't I think of that," and ," where can I get a pair of my own." Well, question one I can't help you with. Question two is easy; you can get yours by clicking on the link. Get them here
